- rMail 1.00 - 17 December 1991
-
- 1. What is rMail?
- rMail is a stand alone mail package for the LANtastic Network Operating
- System. It consists of two programs mail.exe a command line version and
- tmail.exe a tsr. The command line version contains a complete context
- sensitive help facility, a 80 column by 20 row full screen text editor,
- and many features requested by LANtastic owners. Some of these features
- are:
-
- Auto search for mail, rMail searches every server your computer is logged
- into for mail addressed to you.
-
- Extended security - rMail offers you the ability to mark mail so that only
- the sender can delete it. This allows you to use the full group mail cap-
- ibility of the LANtastic mail system.
-
- Stand alone program, can be run from your autoexec.bat or startnet.bat
- file, without letting your users enter the sometimes dangerous net menu
- system.
-
- Full screen editor makes composing and sending a message very easy, the
- screen can be blanked so you can look at display under it, this is useful
- when copying from a program to the mail system.
-
- It is now possible to send programs and data files via mail and preserve
- the program name.
-
- rMail is 100% compatible with the LANtastic mail system. You can still
- send and receive messages with the LANtastic net mail system.(rMail does
- not currently support voice so if you want to send voice mail you will
- still need to use the LANtastic net mail system.)
-
- Templates, rMail allows you to design simple mail templates for commonly
- sent messages, ie phone message etc.
-
- Since all the code was already there rMail also has a built in notefile
- that will allow you to keep and pop up private notes.
-
- 2. How do I install rMail?
-
- Installation of rMail could not be easier, copy Mail.exe, Mail.hlp,
- and if you wish tMail.exe to a directory on your path. Your notefiles
- will be stored in this directory. The name of the default notefile's
- name will be the first 8 characters of your username with the extension
- .nte. You can choose a different name (the extension must remain .nte).
-
- 3. How do I use rMail?
- rMail can be used on any computer running MSDOS or PCDOS 3.1 or greater
- running LANtastic version 3.xx or up. There must be at least one server
- on the network with a LANtastic mail resource @mail.
-
- rMail is started with the command MAIL. At this time rMail searches your
- servers for mail addressed to you and displays a small window at the top
- of the screen. In this window it lists the number of messages waiting for
- you, below this is the main menu <R>ead <S>end <N>otefile e<X>it. Hitting
- escape or x will exit the current menu. No matter where you are in the
- program pressing <ESC> repeatedly will eventually exit the program and
- restore the screen.
-
- The main display appears below.

- arrow keys to highlight the selection and pressing enter or by pressing
- the capital letter beginning the menu item. At any time in the program
- you can press F1 for context sensitive help. You must press F1 to exit
- help as well.
-
- READING MESSAGES
-
- Selecting R will display the messages waiting for you. The first screen
- displays the Sender of the message and the comment describing the message.

- message question. If it is not correct use the up and down arrows
- to move to the incorrect information and change it. The security
- can be toggled by hitting <R> for receiver delete and <S> for Sender

- the file you are returned to the message information screen.
